The Center for Manufacturing Excellence
About Us
The Center for Manufacturing Excellence combines all of CMC Group's manufacturing and warehousing operations into one company, creating a single, unified manufacturing unit that drives lower costs, greater communication, efficient production flow, and a safe workplace. The Center allows CMC Group's manufacturing teams (three facilities in Bowling Green, OH and one in Markham, Ontario, Canada) to become a single supplier to all of the CMC Group business units, working stronger together.
Our Printing Capabilities
Digital Printing
Along with the standard CMYK inks (cyan, magenta, yellow, and key/black) we’ve added orange and violet inks to the process. The benefit is more brilliant colors and a closer Pantone® color match. Digital printing requires no printing plates, so copy can be changed easily and with minimal set up time. Digital labels and shrink sleeves can be produced in small quantities at affordable prices. Gloss lamination and matte varnish are both available as a topcoat and must always be used to protect the ink.
Speed-to-Market: Ship in 5 business days from approval of artwork
Low Minimum Quantities: Ideal for short runs and multi-SKU jobs
High Print Quality: High Definition (HD) quality, extended color gamut, perfect registration
Cost Savings: No plate charges, print-on-demand so no inventory or obsolescence
Customizable: Use variable data to target any demographic or promotional opportunity
Sustainability: Significantly lower environmental impact over conventional printing methods
HD Flexo Printing
Custom full color HD flexo labels and shrink sleeves are produced with a printing process capable of matching intricate detail with precision and clarity. Delivering a higher resolution of 4000 DPI (vs. 2540 DPI with standard flexographic printing) and smoother gradients and vignettes with a technologically advanced screening process, high definition flexo labels from The Center for Manufacturing Excellence feature richer color with better dot control and the ability to incorporate cold foil metallic imprints. A fantastic solution for longer print runs.
For color-critical, longer label and shrink sleeve print runs
4000 DPI resolution (vs. 2540 DPI with standard flexography)
Smoother gradients and vignettes with a technologically advanced screening process
Richer color with better dot control
Utilizes UV curable ink which is vibrant and durable
HD Flexo is only to be utilized for jobs containing long runs of all copies involved
Standard Flexo Printing
With excellent graphics and the capacity to match any imprint color in the spectrum, The Center for Manufacturing Excellence’s flexographic ink labels offer vibrant and versatile labeling and packaging solutions. Flexographic printing is advantageous due to the sharpness of its print and its capacity for color modification. Flexo printing plates are capable of making precise prints of small text and finely detailed artwork. Also, flexo printing enables color matching, custom coloring, and color shading. Water-based inks can be mixed to create any Pantone® color necessary and the process of flexo printing allows a great deal of control over the imprinting of labels.
Standard flexographic printing utilizes water-based inks
This print method cannot be utilized on shrink sleeves
Converting & Coating
Pressure sensitive stocks are The Center for Manufacturing Excellence’s specialty. The facility offers a variety of face sheets—including dissolvable and semi-gloss—as well as a white BOPP (water-based adhesives at approximately 50% solids and < 5000 cP viscosity are preferred), all of which are capable of layflat. The Center for Manufacturing Excellence currently maintains an inventory that includes permanent and dissolvable adhesives—with more on the way—and a standard 40# liner.
The Center for Manufacturing Excellence currently coats their own liner. Additionally, the facility periodically coats liner for a local company called GMC Coating.
Unsupported paper can be optioned with or without a topcoat.
Heat seal coating is available on several stocks, including dissolvable. A stocked option is available, but we are happy to work with specific items as needed.
